The Global Shield Solutions Platform and the Regional Risk Pools collaborated to host the event titled 'The Global Shield: Unleashing Regional Resilience through a Thematic Window for Regional Risk Pools.'
The primary goal was to raise awareness and foster commitment towards enhancing financial resilience to climate and disaster risks, particularly for vulnerable countries.
During the event, the Minister of Finance delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the crucial role that regional risk pools play in facilitating tailored climate and disaster risk financing and insurance solutions. The Minister emphasized the significance of parametric insurance as a key instrument in Tonga's Disaster Risk Financing toolkit, with plans to further integrate it into the country's disaster risk response strategy.
