Mr. Sione Toutou Tokai was selected for the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) Fellowship Programme for 2023. He joined the Ministry of Finance in 2017 and is currently a Senior Economist under the Aid Management and Resilient Development Division (AMRDD).

The Voice Secondment Program (VSP) is a capacity building opportunity that was initiated by the World Bank’s Executive Directors for their constituent countries’ civil servants. The VSP targets key individuals in focal agencies that are in dialogue with the World Bank Executive Director’s Office and Bank’s operational teams and it is administered by the Corporate Secretariat Vice Presidency Unit.

The Ministry of Finance hosted and led the 2023 Government of Tonga’s Annual Development Partner Forum at Fa’onelua Convention Centre on the 28th February, 2023 with the theme “Partnership for Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Development”. Delegations from the Diplomatic corps, development partners, multilateral institutions, regional organisations, government ministries and officials, and sector representatives were present, to participate in this full-day high-level discussion, after conducting these platforms virtually in the past 2 years

PACIFIC FINANCIAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE: QUARTERLY REPORT

Capacity development (CD) delivery is returning to prepandemic level. During Q3, PFTAC delivered 34 missions over 576 technical assistance (TA) days. Majority of CD activity were executed in-country and regional events were conducted in-person in Fiji, witnessing a strong turnout from member countries.Outreach activities continued to strengthen engagement with country authorities and donors.

‘Building a Resilient Pacific Through Early Childhood Development’
On Wednesday 22nd February, 2023 at Sofitel Hotel, Denarau Resort, Nadi, Fiji, the Prime Minister, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku led the Kingdom’s delegation, in his capacity as Prime Minister and Minister of Education attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Pacific ECD Forum.   The Opening Ceremony was also attended by the other Pacific Leaders: the Prime Minister of Fiji, Hon Sitiveni Rabuka (Pacific ECD Champion), Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon Fiame Naomi Mata’afa and Vice-President of Kiribati, Mr Teuea Toatu.
